The right-wing magazine quotes the AAN (and links to our analysis) to bolster its argument that US airstrikes “might have deterred the Taliban from launching major attacks against urban centers”:
Also, according to the Afghanistan Analysts Network, coalition airstrikes might have deterred the Taliban from launching major attacks against urban centers.
It apparently did not see the other sentence pertaining to this issue:
UNAMA’s figures, then, do not bear out the theory that the Taleban, because of the threat from the air, turned from ground engagements against population centres to carrying out suicide and complex attacks.
