“In the Light of the Conflict: Photographer Andrew Quilty’s experience in Afghanistan”

Politico (Playbook briefing), 2 July 2017

The Politico blog’s daily “Playbook” briefing on what’s driving the day in Washington refers to AAN’s photo and interview dispatch with Australian photo journalist Andrew Quilty (go to the last part of the text) under Bonus Great Holiday Reads:

–“In the Light of the Conflict: Photographer Andrew Quilty’s experience in Afghanistan,” by Jelena Bjelica on Afghan Analysts Network: “I do not think of myself as a huge risk taker. A lot of planning goes into travel outside Kabul. We do not just jump in a taxi and head for the hills. I was inexperienced and a bit ignorant in Badakhshan, and probably pushed my luck more than I would these days. Now, working with colleagues, I’m often the one telling journalists to wrap up their interviews because it feels like we have been in one place too long.”
