A very lively reportage from Kunar’s Taleban-controlled and empoverished Marawara district (which the LWJ map counts as ‘contested’). The access was facilitated by the Taleban. Projects a picture of Taleban commanders and fighters going for 100 per cent victory and the abolishment of the Ghani government. Which is not surprising, but might be subject to negotiations – if they happen. Apart from this, the report confirms AAN and others’ findings from other districts: education and health services continue under Taleban control, with government funds; no girls school, fpr the lack of local female teachers. Same with doctors. Salaries, thiugh, have not been paid for months.
