The move forces NATO to make even greater use of the more expensive alternatives: the NDN (twice the cost) and air lifts (ten times the cost). On the other hand: ‘Many inside Pakistan, including its mafia and military-business complex, enjoy great benefits from the taxation and theft of NATO convoys – they will be lobbying General Kayani to go easy.’
