A bomb-shell interview, giving us what many had thought, on the record now: namely that former US Afghanistan envoy Zalmay Khalilzad had negotiated the 2021 Doha deal with the Taleban, that “sold out” Afghanistan, with the backing of President Trump and Secretary of State Pompeo, but against strong objections of high-ranking US officials who were “overruled” – that he basically had carte blanche. She avoids an answer on the question whether Khalilzad was also following personal interests.
