The Bureau for Aliens and Foreign Immigrants Affairs at Iran’s Ministry of Interior has outlined six which categories ofAfghan nationals that are permitted to remain in Iran under specific conditions. Those with census registration documents can remain in the country; also former government officials, military personnel, or civil servants from the previous Afghan administration. Those who have a valid job identification card or work permit must secure legal residency within a designated period to continue working in Iran. The other groups must leave the country and obtain new documents or visa.
Furthermore it was said that, from April 2025, “unauthorized foreign nationals” will no longer be eligible for healthcare, real estate transactions, or other essential services in Iran.
