Impacts of Climate Change on Afghan Women, Youth, and Children

This report by an environmental NGO based in Afghanistan, that is also represented at the current UN climate conference COP29 in Baku, aims to identify vulnerabilities within the groups mentioned in the title and propose pathways to resilience. It offers “actionable recommendations” such as “strengthening healthcare systems, promoting climate resilience and gender-responsive policies, providing comprehensive climate change education and training programs, establishing youth and women-led networks and community groups, advocating for policy changes, engaging youth in decision-making processes, providing mental health support, ensuring access to quality healthcare and education, implementing child protection programs, establishing climate change clubs in schools and communities, leveraging Islamic and traditional practices, integrating climate education into formal and informal education systems, fostering peer learning and knowledge sharing, facilitating access to climate financing and green job opportunities, and promoting partnerships and collaborations among NGOs, religious organizations, and civil society.”
