In early October, AAN’s Co-director Thomas Ruttig will participate in two public discussions of Afghan issues in Berlin. On Tuesday 6 October, Heinrich Boell Foundation invites for a jour fixe under the title ‘After the elections in Afghanistan and Germany: Quo vadis at the Hindukush?’ A week later, he will discuss issues of the elections and the German involvement in Afghanistan in the Gedaechtniskirche in Berlin. Both events are public and admission-free.
In the Boell Foundation meeting the following issues will be discussed:

2) What aims should Germany and its international partners set for themselves in Afghanistan?
3) Which strategy should the new German government follow in Afghanistan?
4) Is the democratic process in Afghanistan failing?
5) How could an approach to the Taleban look like?
Participants in the discussion will be:
Winfried Nachtwei, member of parliament, Green Party
Susanne Koelbl, reporter at ‘Spiegel’ magazine
Thomas Ruttig, AAN
Moderator: Sven Hansen (die tageszeitung)
Time: 6 October, 7.30 to 9.30 pm
