The Open Forum Davos 2011 is organized by the Federation of Swiss Protestant Churches (SEK) and the World Economic Forum. It provides a forum for an open, lively debate with leaders from society, politics and business – from 27 to 29 January 2011.The microphone is open: after an initial panel discussion, the audience is called upon to challenge the panellists with controversial questions and positions.
The session on 27 January – “Has the West Failed in Afghanistan?” – will discuss whether the West has failed in its required reconstruction in Afghanistan; whether drug cultivation, corruption and failing democratic structures make the country ungovernable; what responsibility the West carries; and what the consequences are for Afghanistan and the West?
Time: 27 January 2011 from 19:00-20:30.
Admission is free, on a first-come-first-serve basis, seating is limited. All sessions will take place in the auditorium of the Alpine Mittelschule Davos. The panels will be translated simultaneously into German and English. Some of the discussions will be broadcast live by Swiss television channel SF-info.
