Op-ed commentary by AAN’s Thomas Ruttig about the ‘Consultative’ Peace Loya Jirga in Afghanistan for the Berlin-based daily (in German), saying that the way the jirga was organised dos not represent popular inclusion and consensus building but top-down government imposition of its own position and that the jirga’s resolution which failed to outline the demand for present constitutionally guaranteed equal rights for women shed a light how an intra-Islamist consensus could do away with basic rights as a result of peace talks.
