In this report by Austrian public TV (in German) about the Taleban’s latest ban on books, AAN’s Thomas Ruttig is quoted on context, that according to UN and human rights groups’ report, the Taleban have become even more restrictive in the fourth year of their rule and on the humanitarian situation:
[The rulers have become even more restrictive in their fourth year of rule, said Ruttig. Women’s protests, which were still visible in some cities at the beginning of their rule, have been successfully crushed by the Islamists and forced underground.]
(…)
[‘After Sudan, Afghanistan is experiencing the second-largest humanitarian disaster in the world,’ said Afghanistan expert Thomas Ruttig – actually a quote from a UN report.]
