Taliban Blow Line Transmitting Uzbek Electricity to Kabul

The Diplomat, 27 January 2016

Catherine Putz refers to two AAN pieces –by our former colleague Gran Hewad and by guest author Mohsin Amin – as background for her article about the Taleban blowing up the electricity transmission line to Kabul from Uzbekistan:

As noted by Gran Hewad in an excellent piece for the Afghanistan Analysts Network (AAN), the Taliban’s strong presence in Baghlan to the south was hugely important. Taliban were able to delay government reinforcement along the road.

In another AAN report, Moshin Amin noted in February 2015 that in the winter Kabul receives 260 MW of electricity from abroad, namely Uzbekistan.
