In this background story on the current situation in Afghanistan (video), before the backdrop of Germany’s current discussion about the resumption of deportations of Afghan criminal offenders, AAN’s Thomas Ruttig is quoted twice. He argues that the Taleban would welcome such contact as ‘a gift’, as it would boost their international standing and help in their quest for diplomatic recognitions.
