AAN’s Martine van Bijlert is quoted in this article about President Ghani’s re-upping of the Kabul Bank fraud case:
Speaking to Express, Martine Van Bijlert co-director of Afghanistan Analysts Network said that the announcement of the probe was an important symbolic act for President Ghani to focus on Kabul Bank that early but in practice it is probably going to be quite difficult to prosecute the people who have left the country”.
Pointing out that ties Kabul-New Delhi were strong, Van Bijlert said, if the Indian government does not cooperate (in returning the two Indian accused), it will be an issue but at the same time it is unlikely that relations will seriously impacted over it”.
