The now de facto Taleban-controlled Afghan diplomatic missions in Bonn, Berlin, and Munich are now seeking interns. AAN’s Thomas Ruttig is quoted here as saying:
Das Praktikumsangebot riecht nach einer PR-Aktion der Taliban nach dem Motto: Wir sind hier, wir arbeiten weiter.
Die Taliban könnten so versuchen, Gleichgesinnte zu rekrutieren und sich weitere diplomatische Spielräume in Deutschland zu verschaffen. Ruttig fordert deshalb ein Eingreifen der Bundesregierung. Sonst drohe eine weitere “Normalisierung des Taliban-Regimes auf deutschem Boden.“
[The internship offer smacks of a Taleban PR stunt, following the motto: “We are here; we are at work.”
The Taliban could thus be attempting to recruit like-minded individuals and secure further diplomatic room to maneuvre in Germany. Ruttig therefore calls for the Federal Government to intervene; otherwise, he warns, there is a risk of further “normalisation of the Taliban regime on German soil.”]
