[IS, die Taleban und Afghanistan]

Listen to an audio file of an interview by Swiss radio (in German, with a direct link) with AAN’s Thomas Ruttig, on the relationship between IS and Afghanistan. Main points: there is some IS propaganda activity in Pakistan and Afghanistan but no proven sign of Taleban joining the IS in masses. A self-declared but unknown Pakistani Taleban commander claimed allegiance, so did an Afghan group, but these seem to be either fringe groups or fakes. With the now two amir-ul-momenin, Mullah Omar and al-Baghdadi, there is a even a situation of mutual tensions. It is unlikely that both movements will join hands, also because of the Afghan Taleban’s Afghan and IS’s internatanal agenda.
