AAN’s Thomas Ruttig describes how the German government, indirectly responding to the Taleban’s de-recognition of a number of IRoA-appointed ambassadors and general consuls by forcing the ambassador in Berlin and general consul in Bonn to resign (and avoid a total closure of the embassy as it happened earlier in the UK and Norway). Both had refused to cooperate with Kabul. The author comes to the conclusion that their refusal stood in the way of more deportations of rejected Afghan asylum seekers (among them convicted criminals) to Afghanistan. Berlin argued that “The two heads of the Afghan missions in Berlin and Bonn were recalled by the sending state” and that these dismissals were “binding under international law.”
