The website of Norwegian public broadcaster has collected a number of reactions to the peace deal between the Afghan government and Hezb-e Islami. One is from AAN’s Thomas Ruttig:
En av verdens fremste Afghanistan-kjennere, Thomas Ruttig i Afghanistan Analysts Network, betegner Hekmatyar som farlig.
– Han er veldig farlig, veldig mange frykter ham, selv blant hans egne, konstaterer han.
Ruttig tror avtalen vil bidra til å styrke president Ashraf Ghani, men tviler på om alliansen mellom de to vil bli langvarig.
(Hekmatyar is dangerous, and feared even by many of his followers. The new alliance will strengthen Ghani [actually I am not sure I said this] but it is all but sure that it will last for long.)
