The independent Afghan news agency summarises AAN’s recent report “Afghans in the UK: Uncertain times ahead”, saying that “Afghans without permanent residency in the United Kingdom are facing prolonged insecurity and serious challenges due to the tightening of the country’s immigration policies.”
In a report released yesterday, AAN stated that many of these Afghans, despite having received immigration documents in recent years, may have to wait longer to obtain permanent residency under new policies proposed in November 2025.
The report notes that these policies are aimed at preventing further migration into the UK.
The report is also picked up by Khaama Press news agency (“UK policy shift leaves thousands of Afghans in legal limbo”), the Persian websites of Hasht-e Sobh’s (شبکه تحلیلگران افغانستان: مهاجران افغان در بریتانیا با آیندهای نامعلوم روبهرو هستند) and Voice of America (گزارش: پناهجویان افغان در بریتانیا با سرنوشت نامعلوم مواجه اند) as well as The Kabul Tribune (“Afghans in UK Face Growing Uncertainty Amid Tougher Immigration Policies”).
